Carolyn Tran

B.A. (Hons), M.A., Ph.D. Candidate

Hi and welcome to my homepage!

I’m Carolyn Tran, a Ph.D. candidate in Applied Social Psychology at the University of Windsor.

My research examines how social contexts shape experiences of identity, belonging, and inclusion among racialized and equity-deserving populations. I am particularly interested in racism, racial and name-based microaggressions, and identity development, with a focus on how these experiences shape individuals’ everyday lives.

Informed by both research and lived experience, my work seeks to understand how individuals navigate social environments, negotiate their identities, and experience inclusion and exclusion. I primarily draw on qualitative and narrative approaches to explore lived experiences and amplify perspectives often overlooked in research.

My research has also expanded into community-engaged work examining 2SLGBTQ+ youth participation in sport and physical activity, with an emphasis on creating more inclusive and affirming environments.

I currently serve as Project Coordinator for the Ontario Rainbow Sports Network (ORSN) and as a Research Associate with the Ménard Psych Group at the University of Windsor.
